Mike and his team have decades of experience leading engaging training to improve your team’s leadership skills. Leadership for Change’s areas of specialty include coaching skills for supervisors, facilitation skills, organizational development. Be sure also to check out the work of F.A.C.E. Consulting Collaborative—a multiracial, cross-class team of trainers that Mike and colleagues launched in 2013 to create heightened awareness and action on issues of Cultural Competency, Anti-Oppression, Equity, and Inclusion.
This list is a sample of workshops Mike offers, which can be modified for 2-hour, half-day or full-day formats. While he has workshop agendas and materials prepared, he prefers to customize them to meet the needs of your program or group. These workshops are designed to be highly interactive and are built around the assumption that each participant comes with a wide range of knowledge and skills to offer the group. The best workshops are the ones that allow for all to share their talents with other group members.

Facilitation Skills
GROUP FACILITATION SKILLS
Learn effective facilitation skills for groups of all sizes. Participants in this workshop will learn important skills such as how to set ground rules for small and large groups, how to keep conversation flowing, techniques for getting quieter people involved, techniques for getting people who dominate discussion to share group time, and tips for dealing with different kinds of topics. Each participant will get an opportunity to practice facilitating in this workshop.
FACILITATING AN EFFECTIVE MEETING TO “GET THINGS DONE”
Learn how to run an efficient meeting to ensure that decisions get made and tasks get completed. Participants will learn how to put together a good agenda to help achieve goals of the group. Participants will learn techniques for getting input from everyone at the table while still moving towards a decision.
CONSENSUS DECISION MAKING
Learn a powerful tool for decision-making where everyone’s input is truly valued and integrated into decision-making. Learn when and where this process is the most effective. Participants will get an opportunity to lead a group in a consensus decision-making process. Handouts will provide techniques used by non-profits and community groups to work towards consensus.

Leadership Skills
YOUTH LEADERSHIP/EMPOWERMENT
Learn strategies for supporting and cultivating youth voice and leadership in your program and/or organization.
ETHICAL LEADERSHIP
Take some time to reflect on how well you are aligning your actions with your core values as an individual, group, and/or organization. Mike will share a framework for helping individuals and organizations to improve alignment of core values with their actions.
SITUATIONAL LEADERSHIP
This workshop helps participants identify what type of coaching they need for the different tasks associated with their position. For those individuals supervising volunteers or interns, it will help them identify how to adapt their supervisory style to best meet the needs of their volunteers. This workshop is designed for both supervisors and line staff.

Organizational Development
5 BOLD STEPS: GOAL SETTING FOR YOUR FUTURE
Participate in a process that will help you define your core values and set specific achievable personal and professional goals. Participants will get an opportunity to identify their passions and translate those into specific steps towards achieving goals that are aligned with their passions.
EFFECTIVE ALLY WORK
To create positive social change in your community it is critical to learn how to ally across race, class, gender sexual orientation, ability, age, etc. Participants will explore how power, privilege, and oppression impact our work and our ability to work together to create change. Participants will identify strategies to build awareness and ultimately to be a more effective ally to groups that have experienced institutionalized oppression.
BUILDING COLLABORATIONS & PARTNERSHIPS
Strong partnerships and collaborations are the key to effective social change work. This experiential workshop will highlight the factors that tend to make or break partnerships. We will also review a process for setting strong and effective partnerships.
TEAM BUILDING
Mike can lead your team through a process to help build a more cohesive, collaborative working group. Mike has extensive experience leading groups in experiential activities, and group initiatives designed to help teams work better together in achieving their goals and communicating more effectively.

Coaching Skills for Supervisors
Giving & Receiving Feedback Skills
In this interactive workshop, learn and practice key skills for both Giving & Receiving Feedback. Participants start by looking at themselves and what gets in the way of integrating helpful feedback. Additionally, participants learn the key skills of giving feedback which include 1) Objective Observation, 2) Appreciative Feedback and 3) Developmental Feedback.
